I’m pretty short of time in the run-up to the Thing, and want to build up a buffer since I’m out of the country for the two weeks immediately after the Thing. So! Tiny comic updates while I toil over a hot Wacom tablet. Two updates a week for the next three weeks, then The Silver Chain will resume thereafter.

As mentioned previously, Hearts of Dragons is going to be making its print debut at the UK Webcomix Thing at the end of March. I’d not yet sorted out the cover image, but figured that I’d have about a week or so to get it done. Easy, right?

I discovered on… uh, Monday evening that the deadline for submitting orders in time for the Thing is in fact today. This necessitated a bit of schedule reshuffling, and unfortunately this meant that Page 14 of The Silver Chain got bumped back as a result.

As such, in lieu of a comic update this week please accept this cover image featuring Kosjukris and Evan, doughty protagonists of Hearts of Dragons. Many apologies for this change to the expected update schedule, normal service will resume presently.

On Saturday March 27, Dark Places will be going to the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing in London – its very first convention! I went as a volunteer helper last year and was blown away by the atmosphere, and am looking forward to attending this year as a vendor. I’m pretty excited, it must be said, and getting more excited as the date approaches.

I’m sharing a couple of tables with Pete Vine of Hard Graft and Rose Loughran of Red Moon Rising [EDIT: Rose can't make it, alas, due to the prohibitive cost of travelling from Scotland. Boo to you, geography! ] as part of the ad hoc Flag of Convenience collective. Our spot is straight ahead of you down the aisle as you come in through the front doors, like so:

I’ll be getting stuff ready over the course of the next couple of weeks, and in addition to print copies of The Well of Stars the Thing will see the long-awaited print debut of Hearts of Dragons. It’s going to be awesome. There’ll also be a few extra bits and bobs that I’ll announce closer to the day.

While the Wacom tablet is my friend, I really should bust out the traditional media more often. Usually I stick with my trusty Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens, but inking with brush and nib is something I’ve neglected. You might see more of these ink sketches in future.
